Does Habitat for Humanity of Summit County give away houses for free?

No. Habitat Homes are sold on a 30 year, zero-interest mortgage, paid directly to Habitat and those payments help fund additional homes to be built with families in need.

What does Habitat for Humanity of Summit County do?
Habitat for Humanity of Summit County is a non-profit, ecumenical organization that builds and repair homes in partnership with qualified families. We are dedicated to making simple, decent and affordable housing available in our community for low-income families in need.
How do you keep the costs of building a house so low?
Homes are built with volunteers to keep costs low. The organization seeks donated building materials to help defray more costs.
Do Habitat homes lower property values?
No, in fact, Habitat Homes have shown an increase in property values on streets where we build new homes.
How many houses has Habitat for Humanity of Summit County built?
Habitat has already built over 200 homes. We have housed more than 300 adults and nearly 500 children in just over 30 years.
How do I apply for a safe, affordable home?
Applications can be downloaded from this website or be picked up from our office during business hours: Monday through Friday 8:30-4:30 p.m. Apply HERE
