All day 2018.11.07-2018.11.10  This week in the Restore, local artists have upcycled items from the ReStore and they will be on display and in a Silent Auction for anyone to bid on!  Artists may pick out one item from the ReStore (under $100) and take it home with them. 
Up-cycle or flip the piece of furniture and give it new life! 
Return the renewed piece to the ReStore before Saturday, November 3rd. 
The items will be in a week long Silent Auction for ReStore customers to bid on from November 7th – November 10th. All proceeds go towards building homes in Summit County.

All day 2018.11.27  This #GivingTuesday, Habitat for Humanity of Summit County will celebrate giving by encouraging Summit County residents to help raise the funds to purchase a gas furnace for 8 Habitat Families!  Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Akron Children’s Hospital and the City of Akron, Habitat for Humanity will build its first 8-lot community on East Avenue in Akron (pictures from the Ground Breaking Ceremony can be found HERE). From now until #GivingTuesday, Habitat will be raising funds to purchase furnaces that will go into these 8 Homes. Habitat for Humanity International requires a Habitat Home to have a 96% efficient 45,000 BTU gas furnace that costs $2,000 each, totally $16,000. 
Heating bills are one of the reasons housing costs can be so high for renters. They cannot choose how to heat their homes and may be stuck with an inefficient furnace that isn’t cost effective. Some families must choose between saving money or heating their home. Keeping a family warm while creating financial stability is one way Habitat creates self-reliance through homeownership.  #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday will take place on November 27th and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.

11:00 am-12:00 pm 2018.11.29  Join us at 618 Roscoe Avenue in Akron, Ohio at 11am to celebrate Darla Payne for becoming a homeowner! All volunteers, sponsors and Habitat supporters are invited to a Dedication Ceremony. Darla Payne was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. She has three adult children – Da’Shika, Ja’Ontae, and Dontae – and six grandchildren. Darla and her family resided in Hanau, Germany for four years as a military family. Darla observed a Habitat for Humanity Home being built right behind her home, applied, and became a partner family in May 2015. Darla loves her job as a housekeeping supervisor at Chapel Hill Towers, a beautiful community that houses over 400 residents. She has been employed there for 9 years, and works closely with the leasing agent and staff to ensure that readiness for both inspections and residency progresses without incident.
