ReStore Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the ReStore?

Habitat for Humanity of Summit County ReStore sells new and used building materials and home furnishings to the public at deeply discounted prices. All proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity of Summit County. Merchandise is acquired through donations from businesses and the public. Thousands of tons of perfectly good materials have been diverted from the landfill due to donations to the ReStore.

Is the ReStore open to the public?

Yes! Anyone is welcome to shop at the ReStore during its open hours: Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

What payment types does the ReStore accept?

Cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover (sorry, no checks)

What does the ReStore sell?

Sale items may consist of, but are not limited to: cabinets, lighting and plumbing fixtures, hardware, roofing, carpet, tools, trim, doors, lumber, flooring and windows. Check back often, our inventory changes frequently!

How are the items priced at the ReStore?

Materials are sold to the public at substantial discount - 50-90% below retail value

Where do items come from?

The ReStore accepts new and used home furnishings and building-related materials from individuals, contractors, suppliers, retail stores, remodelers and property managers.

How often do you get new merchandise?

Our inventory changes often - we are receiving new items weekly, if not daily.

Can you tell me over the telephone what specific items you have in stock?

We are not able to answer questions over the phone about specific items in stock. Our inventory changes too often and we simply do not have the manpower to check. Please visit the ReStore regularly to see what new items have come in since your last visit.

How do I donate an item?

If you have building materials or home furnishings in either new or gently used condition, call us at 330-745-9098. For more details, please check out the Donations section.

Will you pick items up?

Yes, arrangements can be made to pick up donated items, especially if they are heavy or too large to fit in your vehicle. Please contact our ReStore manager to make arrangements.

Where do the proceeds from the sales go?

Proceeds from ReStore sales support the Habitat for Humanity of Summit County's primary objectives of building affordable houses with working families in need.

Are my donations tax deductible?

Probably. Donations to the ReStore are tax deductible to the fullest extent allow by law. Please consult with a tax accountant or the IRS for a definite answer. We will provide you with a donation receipt, which you may use with your tax information.

Does the ReStore place a value on the items we donate?

No, the IRS requires the donor to place the value on your donations.

How can my business get involved?

There are many ways local businesses can contribute: financial donations, equipment donations, sponsor a special event for the ReStore, place an ad for or with the ReStore, volunteer at the ReStore, donate materials, or shop at the ReStore. Do you have a unique idea about ways to help? Contact us and tell us about it.
