Donating to Habitat ReStore

If you have good, reusable or new materials, give us a call. Your unneeded and reusable building materials can go a long way in our community. The Habitat ReStore depends on donated materials and funds to deliver the many benefits we provide to Summit County.

Habitat ReStore accepts both new and used building materials and home furnishings that are in good, useable condition. We offer a limited collection service in Summit County and welcome drop-off donations at our location during regular business hours. Please note that our organization only serves Summit County, Ohio. If you are outside of Summit County and want to find a ReStore near you, click here. You can donate your materials by doing any of the following:

Pickup

It is possible to schedule for pickup of a large quantity of donations or the donation of large, heavy items, but we ask your assistance by scheduling to drop off smaller items.

  • Call the ReStore at 330-745-9098 or email us the following information: Name, home phone, alternate phone, a brief description of the materials you have to donate, your zip code and if you have ever donated to the ReStore before. You will be contacted shortly to finalize your donation and schedule a collection. Before you email your request, please check out our Materials We Accept list.
  • Cash donations to help offset the high cost of fuel for items being picked up will be gratefully appreciated.
  • Pickups are generally scheduled up to two weeks in advance, but our staff will do our best to accommodate special requests. Please note that longer wait times may exist during the busy building season.
  • We ask that the donation be cleaned up and ready to load upon arrival of the driver. There is also no guarantee that your donation will be accepted until it is seen. The driver reserves the right to refuse pick-up of any item.

Drop-Off

You may drop off your donation at our location any time during our regular business hours, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please remember that items are accepted only at our staff's discretion based on our need for the item(s) and condition. Please contact us in advance or check our Materials We Accept list if you have questions about your specific items.

A receipt acknowledging your donation will be given to you at the time of the donation. Your donation is tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Please note that tax laws regarding donation valuation have recently changed. All donations valued over $5,000 may require a professional appraisal prior to donation. Please consult a tax professional or this IRS PDF (p526.pdf) for details.

Other Ways to Help

  • Cash donations - The ReStore will gladly accept cash donations, particularly to help offset the high cost of fuel when materials are picked up.
  • Cars for Homes™ - Donate a car, truck, boat, RV, motorcycle, airplane, construction equipment or other motorized vehicle - running or not!  By donating a vehicle to the Habitat's Cars for Homes™ donation program, you help Habitat for Humanity of Summit County build houses in partnership with families in need of decent, affordable shelter. It's quick and easy to donate. Call (877) 277-HFHI (4344) toll-free or visit www.carsforhomes.org.

Donation Requirements

  • All items donated to the ReStore must be new or in good enough condition to sell to the public.
  • Items must be intended for use in residential construction, improvement or maintenance.
  • Items should work, with nothing broken, missing, worn-out or otherwise 'falling apart.'

Please note that this information is meant to serve as a general guide for donors. Acceptable items are subject to frequent change.
