Constructing a Future: A Night to Build Hope

Habitat for Humanity of Summit County is having a wine and beer tasting event at the Portage Country Club on November 5, 2010 at 6:00 pm. There will be a silent auction with various items to bid on. All proceeds from the event go towards Habitat's mission to provide affordable, decent housing for those in need in Summit county.

Building Homes is a Labor of Love

Children who attended the weeklong Vacation Bible School at Akron's St. Paul Episcopal Church learned a lesson ''on the concept of neighborhoods and what it means to be a good neighbor.'' They were escorted by their parents and other instructors to an inner-city neighborhood on Seventh Avenue, where a Summit County Habitat for Humanity house is under construction.

Live United: Day of Action

On Friday, June 18 about 1,200 volunteers demonstrated how to Live United by participating in the United Way's 2010 Day of Action event sponsored by FirstEnergy Foundation. Volunteers showed support of the community by volunteering at almost 100 project sites.

On June 14 at the City Council meeting, five city-owned properties were scheduled to be bull dozed but instead were given to Habitat for Humanity of Summit County.

$50,000 Grant from the Corbin Foundation

Habitat for Humanity of Summit County received a $50,000 grant from the Corbin Foundation. Habitat for Humanity has a three-year commitment with the Corbin Foundation to receive $200,000 for their new location.

Women Build Week (Release)

Mayor of Stow, Karen Fritchel, willbe stepping out of the office and participating in Habitat for Humanity of Summit County Women Build Week. This year the Women Build will be taking place Saturday May 8th at 3925 Moreland Ave in Stow.

TTR Shipping in Stow excitedly helps Habitat for Humanity relocate to 2301 Romig Road, Akron. It is located in the former Handy Andy building across from Rolling Acres Mall. The ReStore"s normal business hours are 8a.m. to 4p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
