Homeownership Application

Qualifications for Potential Applicants

Applicants must have:

1)  The need for adequate shelter

2)  The willingness to partner with Habitat (Each adult in the household must complete 250 sweat equity hours through volunteering)

3)  A decent and responsible credit history - If you have a bankruptcy, it must be discharged for at least one year.  If you have any active law suits, judgements or liens, your application will be declined.

4)  The ability to pay a monthly mortgage payment (ranging from $450-$550 a month)

The entire process for a Habitat home, should an applicant be approved, can take anywhere from 12 to 24 months to complete.  We do not provide emergency housing.

 

Applications may be picked up from our office during regular business hours:  Mon.-Fri. 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. You may complete the application while at our office or take it home and return it when completed. Unfortunately we are not able to mail applications.

To complete an application, you will need to know the following information:

1.  Gross Monthly Income (income before taxes are taken out)

2.  Monthly Expenses

3.  Long Term Expenses (i.e. credit cards, car loans, student loans) - know the monthly payment and the balance which would pay it off.

4.  Landlord Information - Name, address and telephone number
