Habitat for Humanity of Summit County (HFHSC), affiliated with Habitat International in 1986 and built its first house in 1987. Since then the affiliate has built more than 160 homes in Summit County.
The mission of Habitat is to work in partnership with families and communities to build simple, decent, affordable homes with families in need. Through home sponsorship from corporations, foundations, individuals and faith communities, the affiliate works to acquire vacant land in Summit County to build homes.
HFHSC carries out its mission in a unique way, receiving donations from individuals, corporations, churches and community and government partners. Everything Habitat accomplishes depends on successful partnerships between qualified families, volunteers and donors.
