"We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future" -Franklin D. Roosevelt
Youth United is a program that involves young people ages 5-25 in all aspects of Habitat's mission by planning and participating in education, advocacy, volunteering and fundraising. The program invites youth to work together to fund and build homes in their own communities. Youth of all ages can share their imagination and energy with us in the effort to end poverty housing as they raise money and awareness. This program is a way to involve schools, youth groups, after school programs and youth serving agencies interested in partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Summit County.
The goal of Youth United is to fund an entire home ($80,000), as well as have youth (18 and over) participate in building the home. This is a unique opportunity for young people to develop as leaders and work as a team for the betterment of their community. Understanding the problems of substandard housing and poverty within Summit County helps to develop and empower the next generation of community spirit.
