Merkisha Rush is a single mother of 14-year-old son La’Tel and 3-year-old son Lincoln. Merkisha heard about Habitat from her pastor, who is a close family friend. Merkisha is interested in the journey God has placed her on with Habitat for Humanity of Summit County, and knows that this is where her family is meant to be.
Merkisha graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration majoring in Accounting and minoring in Business Law. She currently works for Cleveland State University as the Account Clerk Supervisor in the payroll department. She is enrolled in graduate school, but is currently on break until she completes this phase of her life. Merkisha’s goals are to provide her two amazing boys with stability, love and freedom to be who they want to be in the world, to teach at university level, and to open her own not-for-profit organization that will help young teen mothers.
